Automotive air conditioning

Air-conditioning performance, airflow, visible leak and system fault checks.

Vehicle air conditioning helps cool the cabin and clear misted windows. Book an assessment if the system no longer cools properly, airflow is weak, the compressor or fan makes an unusual noise, there is an unpleasant smell, or the windscreen takes too long to demist. At our Whanganui workshop we start with the symptom rather than assuming every poorly performing system only needs a recharge.

Depending on the vehicle and fault, checks may include vent temperature and system performance, compressor operation, the drive belt, condenser and accessible pipework, visible refrigerant-oil staining, cabin-filter condition, blower operation and electrical controls. Refrigerant handling, leak testing, recovery and recharge must use the correct equipment and refrigerant for the vehicle; we confirm what work is appropriate before proceeding.

A recharge does not repair a leak, electrical fault or failed mechanical component, and some intermittent or concealed faults require further diagnostic time. We explain what the initial assessment confirms, any limitations and the next sensible step. Additional testing, refrigerant work or repairs are discussed and approved first. Battery/charging, warning-light diagnosis and routine servicing can also be relevant where airflow controls, compressor operation, a drive belt or cabin filter is involved.

Online information is not a diagnosis or a fixed quote.

Vehicle condition, access, seized components, parts availability and the confirmed fault can change the work required. We explain material changes before proceeding.
