Book a transmission or driveline assessment if the vehicle hesitates, shudders, slips, changes gear harshly, makes a clicking or humming noise, leaks fluid, or has a clutch that is difficult to use. At our Whanganui workshop we assess manual, conventional automatic and CVT transmissions, clutches, CV joints and boots, differentials, transfer cases, mounts and related driveline components.
The right first step depends on the symptom and the vehicle. We identify the transmission, check available service information and fluid requirements, inspect accessible components and road-test the vehicle when it is safe and useful to do so. A scan or further mechanical testing may be needed where a warning light, shift fault or intermittent symptom is involved. Correct fluid specification and procedure matter, so we do not treat every automatic or CVT service as the same job.
Some internal faults cannot be confirmed without specialist testing or dismantling, and a service cannot reverse existing mechanical damage. We explain what the initial checks establish, what remains uncertain and whether servicing, repair, removal or specialist assessment is the sensible next step. Any additional diagnostic time, dismantling or repair is quoted or discussed and approved before we proceed. Related warning-light, servicing and pre-purchase concerns can be assessed separately where useful.
